Please find details below on the two ways to Upload Product Images, as well as considerations around version imagery if required
- Bulk Upload for multiple images
- Image Upload via Product Detail Page for individual images
- Adding Version Specific Images
IMPORTANT - Backup all your image files
It's important to have a local backup of every image file that you upload to AB Commerce in case AB Commerce's file server ever got corrupted - and the backups were also corrupted. While this is highly unlikely, it's safer to have a local folder on your network with every file so that in a worst case scenario, you could bulk upload all your images again if ever needed.
BULK UPLOAD
1. Log in as Website Admin
2. Select Catalogue - Bulk Upload Image
Note the image files must meet the following specifications
- Must be jpegs with a file name extension of .jpg or .jpeg
- Must be perfectly square (i.e. the width must be the same as the height)
- Must be at least 1,000 pixels in width/height
- Photos should be saved as 100%/full quality JPG – not compressed
- Flat graphics (logos, some packaging) should be saved as high quality PNG – not compressed
- Must be less than 10,000k
- Name your files productcode.jpg with the product code in the title – e.g. ABC1234.jpg.
- If uploading more than 1 image file per product, add “_2”, “_3”, etc at the end of the filename to specify the order you want the image displayed – e.g. ABC1234.jpg, ABC1234_2.jpg, ABC1234_3.jpg.
- To attach an image to a specific version, use the version’s product code instead.
3. Select Open the File Browser
4. Choose the files to Upload and select Open. If a product code to match an image file cannot be found an error will appear showing the invalid filenames. Correct the image file names to reflect the product codes and repeat the upload process.
5. A list of images ready to Process will be displayed. If there are any errors e.g. the image is not a perfect square an error message will appear until the issue is fixed.
6. The following checkboxes are available
- Skip Validation to Automatically Process all Files This option is not recommended however can be used if all file names are correct and you do not wish to validate the files
- Replace all existing files for these products Use this to replace existing product images with new product images
7. The list will show which Product Codes have Images associated with then, how many images and whether the additional images are for versions. If everything is correct, select Process All Files. Alternatively process each image file individually by selecting Process beside each image
8. Once all processed, test that the process is successful by viewing the products and the images will appear

VERSION IMAGES
If you would like to upload images specific to versions of a product, just name the image files productcode.jpg where the "product code" is the code for the version.
This will mean that when you click on a version button, the image will change to the first image uploaded for that version.
For example, when you click the RED version button in this sample, it automatically shows the 3rd image as this is the first image uploaded for the RED version.
If uploading more than 1 image file per version, add “_2”, “_3”, etc at the end of the filename to specify the order you want the image displayed – e.g. ABC1234.jpg, ABC1234_2.jpg, ABC1234_3.jpg.
Changing Sort Order
You can change the sort order of the images - however, the images will always display in the same sort order as the versions sort order - so it will only allow you resort images within a version's image list (you cant move a version image before another version image when that version is set to appear after it).
Displaying Caption in Image Viewer
If you would like the product title to appear over the large image, just contact the Help Desk and they will turn this on for you.
For example, the title of the version "Red Apple" appears when you click on one of it's version images.
Displaying Version Image on Version Button
If you would like the version buttons to have a version image on them, just contact the Help Desk and they will turn this on for you.
For example, see the buttons below now have the first version image uploaded for it:
Version Images uploaded before Sept 2020
If you have uploaded a version image before Sept 2020, clicking the version button wont automatically change the image displayed. To fix this, just go into the EDIT SORT ORDER screen and change the sort order of one of the images and click SAVE - then change the sort order back and click SAVE again.
