We've put together some instructions for how to manage your imagery using the Pixlr Online Editor and they are outlined below.
Resizing a Portrait Image
This is a tall/vertical image and has a larger height dimension than width.
1. Open the Pixlr Editor online https://pixlr.com/x/
2. Click Open Image and browse to the product photo on your computer you wish to edit
Please note: if the image is very large, the Pixlr Editor will ask you to reduce the size prior to editing online. If this option does pop up, simply select the middle option Full HD.
3. Now your image is open, click on the top icon on the left to edit Properties.
4. The Properties menu is now open, and you need to click the Resize Image button.
5. You can now see a Resize Image dialogue box which shows you the current image dimensions in pixels. The Constrain Proportions option is active by default so there is no need to touch this.
6. Because this is a portrait image, you need to adjust the height to the required 1000 pixels. This will automatically adjust the width of the image (which will be less than 1000 pixels, but don't worry we'll adjust that in the next steps.)
7. Click Apply.
8. Now that your image is resized, you need to reformat it so that is the square aspect ratio required. Back in the Properties menu, click the Canvas Size button.
9. You can now see a Resize Canvas dialogue box which shows you the current image dimensions in pixels. You need to adjust the image width to 1000 pixels so that it is the same as your height.
10. Click Apply.
11. Your image is now the correct dimensions, but you need to apply the white background to fill the space. Back in the Properties menu, activate the Background switch. This should default to white, but if it doesn't click the white swatch and your image will now be filled in.
12. Click the blue Save button beneath your image, this will open a Save Image dialogue box.
13. Rename your image to the product code, and add _1, _2, etc. for additional images of the same product, and ensure it is a JPG. Also, ensure that the quality slider is at 100%. We don't need to compress the file now as abcommerce will do that when you upload it.
14. Click Download - and you're done!
