Below are the product image specifications required by the ABCommerce platform. You must adhere to these dimensions otherwise your products will not display properly.
- Image must be square (aspect ratio 1:1)
- Image must be minimum 1000 x 1000 pixels
- Product should fill the space as best possible
- Product image does not need a transparent background, we would recommend a white background
- Photos should be saved as 100%/full quality JPG – not compressed
- Flat graphics (logos, some packaging) should be saved as high quality PNG – not compressed
- Image needs to be named according to product code, e.g. a product with code ABC01234 needs images to be named ABC01234.jpg, ABC01234_1.jpg, ABC01234_2.jpg, etc.
- Aim to have at least two images per product, but more is better to help customers make purchasing decisions
- Watch the naming of imagery - some special characters and spaces in the image filename can cause issues.
Below are some examples of Good Product Images
Your primary product image works best when it is a quality photo of the product on a white background. The images above are good, but you would likely want to crop in more closely to the product to ensure it takes centre stage in your gallery. Once you have cropped the image it will be ready to resize.
In these product images on a white background the product is prominent as it is already cropped closely and the product fills the frame. These images would just need to be resized.
These images are good as they are large enough and the product features prominently in them. In some of these you may wish to crop in closer to the product, but as these are lifestyle/in-use images it may be fine to leave as is.
Below are some examples of what not to do (Poor Product Images)
All these images are too small and would degrade significantly if scaled up to the minimum dimension of 1000px. Poor imagery can give the impression of poor quality of both the product and the shop itself.
At first glance these images might appear acceptable because they meet the minimum 1000px dimension requirement. However, if you were to crop into the product so it fills the frame, the image would then be too small.
