Background
A Dynamic Category such as 'Gift Finder' is an additional marketing layer to help your customers navigate to existing products using a new path.

It is important that the products that appear in the Dynamic Category are already assigned to a primary category and brand category.
We recommend that you check that a Dynamic Category will work with your ERP/ePOS integration before building the category.
There are five steps involved in building a Dynamic Category and we recommend that your Implementations Team assist you with the first, third and fourth steps as outlined below.
Step 1 : Setting up Filter Group and associated Filters (with Implementation Team)
1. Log in as Website Admin.
2. Select Catalogue and Categories & Navigation from the menu bar
3. Choose Filter Groups from left hand bar
4. Choose Add New Filter Group
- Title - this is the Title of the Filter Group e.g. Gift Finder ( we recommend that you use the singular version of the title i.e. Gift Finder not Gifts Finder)
- Unique Code - this will be used in the url of the page so should be all one word and lower case e.g giftfinder
- Is Active - should be checked
- Parent Category should be Filter Groups
- Finish
5. To add filters to the Filter Group, select View Filters
6. Add New Filters (note these filters will appear on the LHS as refinement options)
- Title - this is the Title of the Filter e.g. For Her
- Unique Code - this will be used in the url of the page so should be all one word and lower case e.g giftforher
- Is Active - should be checked
- Parent Category should be Filter Group e.g. Gift Finder (Filter Groups)
- Finish
Step 2 : Assign Products to Filter groups (Retailer)
1. Log in as Website Admin.
2. Select Catalogue and Products from the menu bar
3. Search for the Product you wish to add to a Filter Group
4. Choose Update beside the relevant Product
5. Select Categories tab, scroll down to Additional Categories
6. Choose the relevant Filter Group e.g, Filter Groups>Gift Finder>For Her (note important to select the correct Filter Group and not the Main Navigation category)
7. Save and Repeat the Steps above for each product
Step 3 : Create a Link to the new Dynamic Category (with Implementation Team)
1. Select Catalogue and Categories & Navigation from the menu bar
2. Add New Page/Category
- Title - this is the Title of the new Category e.g. Gift Finder
- Show Products - should not be checked
- Is Active - should be checked
- Parent Category - Main Navigation
- Sort Order - Decide where in the Navigation you want this new Category to appear
- Save
3. View Pages/Sub Categories to Add New Page/Sub Category
- Title - this is the Title of the new Sub Category e.g. For Her
- Show Products - should be checked
- Is Active - should be checked
- Parent Category - New Category e.g. Gift Finder
- Sort Order - Decide where in the Navigation you want this new Sub Category to appear
- Save
4. Repeat Step 3 in order to create all the required sub categories
Step 4: Configure Gift Finder to Display Products (With Implementations team for set up but Retailer can manage once set up )
1. Ensure you are in Edit Site Content Mode
2. Navigate to relevant Sub Category e.g For Her under Gift Finder
3. Edit Page /Category and Select Advanced Settings
4. Add the Filter Code for the relevant sub category e.g. For Her to the Filter Code field (note you find this Code on the Filter Groups page)
5. Add the relevant Top Category Codes to the Category Codes Field (these are the Main Categories that the relevant products where chosen from and you find these codes on the Categories Page)
(Step 4 and 5 above tell the platform to display any products that have been assigned a filter 'for her' and also belong to one of the selected Main Categories )
6. Save
Troubleshooting Tips
If the products do not display below are possible reasons:
- Are they in-stock ? and if not ensure that 'Disable the display of out of stock products' is not activated.
- Ensure the product has an image and if not ensure ‘Disable the display of Products without Images’ is not activated.
- Ensure a Filter Code AND at least one Category Code has been added to the relevant fields. Failure to add a category codes may result in products not appearing.
Step 5: Set Up Gift Finder Landing Page (Retailer)
1. Ensure you are in Edit Site Content Mode
2. Navigate to relevant Category e.g Gift Finder
3. Follow the steps in Adding Text and Graphics to a Non Product Page to create a Gift Finder Landing Page
