Dynamic Merchandising Widget Link
What is an Automated Panel?
This is where you place an automated panel of products to be presented to the user so that they are based on an analytics algorithm which is set up and configured by you.
Steps to turn on an Automated Panel of product features:
- Log in as web admin and click on Settings - Enable Site Content
- Go into a product detail page or a category page and click on Add new content for ALL products/categories
- For the product detail page, this will appear below the product images and is displayed directly under the related products section
- For the categories page, this will appear at the top of the page directly below any category specific widgets
- You must select the single widget container (as you specify how many products you want to display within the widget settings) and then select Dynamic Merchandising under the widget type
- When editing the widget, you can configure where it's displayed using the following:
Only Show for these Primary Category Codes
Only Show for these Brand Category Codes |
If you don't want this displaying for all products/categories, just enter a comma-separated list of category code numbers | NOTE: Don't use both fields at the same time unless it's for a product and you only want to display this for a list of primary categories for a specific list of brand categories |
- Under Select the algorithm for selecting products, select one or more from the following:
- NOTE that you can add this widget to the following page types:
- ALL Category Pages
- ALL Brand Pages
- ALL Product Detail Pages
- NOTE that you can add this widget to the following page types:
Each type of page will display options for choosing the type of products you wish to add to the widget. For example the image below shows the options available to you on the product detail page.
Number Products to Show |
Select the number of products to display - e.g. 6 or 8 |
Show Top Products for products in same Primary Category |
ONLY WORKS ON CATEGORY PAGE + PRODUCT DETAIL PAGE These are the products that have been viewed the most since the start of the previous month for the current primary category (and it's sub-categories) of products |
Show Top Products for products in Related Category |
ONLY WORKS ON CATEGORY PAGE + PRODUCT DETAIL PAGE As above but for categories related to the primary category - see how to add related categories to a category below - e.g. relating the SHIRTS category to the JUMPERS category and JACKETS category |
Show Top Products for products in same Brand Category |
ONLY WORKS ON BRAND PAGE + PRODUCT DETAIL PAGE As above but for products in the same BRAND category |
Show Top Products for products in same Brand Category for THIS CATEGORY ONLY |
ONLY WORKS ON PRODUCT DETAIL PAGE As above but for products in the same BRAND category but excluding products in the same PRIMARY CATEGORY - e.g. in our example, under the JUMPERS category, this would show products under the same BRAND and only within the JUMPERS category |
Show Top Products for products in same Brand Category EXCLUDING THIS CATEGORY |
ONLY WORKS ON PRODUCT DETAIL PAGE As above but for products in the same BRAND category but excluding products in the same PRIMARY CATEGORY - e.g. in our example, under the JIMPERS category, this would show products under the same BRAND but excluding products from the JUMPERS category |
Show Top Products for products in Related Brand |
ONLY WORKS ON BRAND PAGE + PRODUCT DETAIL PAGE As above but it only shows products in related brands (see steps below for relating a brand category to other brand categories using the RelCats= keyword) |
Show Top Products for products in Related Brand for THIS CATEGORY ONLY |
ONLY WORKS ON PRODUCT DETAIL PAGE This shows top products under related brands and only products within the primary category (e.g. under the JIMPERS category, it would show top products in related brands under the JIMPERS category) |
Show Top Products for products in Related Brand EXCLUDING THIS CATEGORY |
ONLY WORKS ON PRODUCT DETAIL PAGE This shows top products under related brands and excludes products within the primary category (e.g. under the JIMPERS category, it would show top products in related brands but not under the JIMPERS category) |
Show Top Products |
WORKS ON ALL PAGES These are the products that have been viewed the most since the start of the previous month |
NOTE: An algorithm must come back with at least 10 products or else it's ignored. This is because there is no point featuring products in a product list page when there are less than 10 products in the whole list before selecting the top products in that list.
The analytics used to chose the products in the widget are based on the choices made by users of the website. If your website is newly launched and you don't yet have a lot of traffic on your website there may not be enough analytics to display products in this widget.
Merging algorithms into one panel of products
When multiple algorithms are turned on above, the products are merged together into the one panel of products. For example, if you turned on 3 algorithms above and specified to show 6 products, it would take 2 products from each algorithm.
NOTE: There is a maximum of 3 algorithms allowed so if you turn on more than 3 algorithms, only the first 3 algorithms will be run and the other algorithms will be ignored.
To set up RELATED CATEGORIES, just follow these steps:
- Log on as web admin
- Click on CATALOGUE - CATEGORIES & NAVIGATION and beside the category you want to add related categories to, click UPDATE
- Under Configuration enter RelCats= and a comma-separated list of category code numbers similar to the following example. This allows you to match one or more other categories to the category - e.g. if your category is SHIRTS, you can relate the JUMPERS category and the JACKETS category to it.
- Click Save
