The following is a sample file for importing new 301 redirects:
Click here to Download Sample 301 Redirects CSV File
PLEASE NOTE:
- Try and use RELATIVE URLs (that start with "/" instead of "https://www.yourdomainname.com/")
- When bulk importing, always import an initial 10-50 records and test that they work before importing the rest of the CSV file (i.e. split into 2 CSV files for uploading)
- When importing an OLD URL that already has a 301 redirect, this will be replaced by the NEW URL.
- Query parameters in the OldUrl cannot be in 301 redirects. Query parameter will appear after a question mark in the url eg /clothing?product_id=30. In this example it would not be able to create a redirect for the product with the id 30.
- Ensure that each "OldUrl" appears only once in your file 301 redirect appears only once in your file. If it appears only more than once then it will display an error when you try to upload the file.
- There is a formula for category page and product page URLs on AB Commerce - so you can get a close approximate URL using an EXCEL formula (which saves you having to go into each new category page and new product page and copying the URL into a spreadsheet). Magico can provide a list of NewUrls for you if this is helpful. The following formulas are used. Note the product title uses hyphens instead of spaces and ignores non-alphabetical and non-numeric characters:
- Product URL = /p/productTitle/productCode
- Category URL = /c/categoryTitle/categoryCode
How to Import the File:
- Ensure that your file only has the fields OldUrl and NewUrl - the fields must be in this order.
- Save your file in .csv (UTF8) format
- Log in as web admin and click Catalogue - Bulk Imports
- Click Import 301 Redirects
- Browse to the csv version of the file and click Upload
- It will then tell you if the file was uploaded successfully and how many records were imported and then inserted/updated - as well as how many errors/warnings were found. If there are errors/warnings, they will be listed down the page.
