Google Analytics 4.0 Pilot
All new clients will go directly to GA4.
All existing clients will run their GA4 and Universal Analytics in parallel - and by 1st July, GA 4 will take over completely (as UA will be stopped on 1st July 2023).
We are also moving all GOOGLE ADWORDS analytics into the GA4 integration javascript.
For all new/existing clients being set up on GA4, we need the following:
- GA4 Measurement ID
- UA ID (this wont change)
- GA Adwords ID (this may need to change)
GA 4 Phase 2 coming later this year will add the following functionality:
- Additional events: select_item + add_to_cart + remove_from_cart + view_cart + begin_checkout

Enabling Google Webmaster Tools
To set up Webmaster Tools, visit http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools and sign in with your Google Analytics account.
On the main page, simply click Add A Property + enter your website URL. Once you have added your website, Google needs to verify that the URL you added is owned by you. To verify Google Webmaster Tools, you need to locate the meta tag form of the Google Webmaster Tools Verification Code. This can be located if you:
- The Meta Tag version is available when you click the Alternate Method tab.
- Copy the meta code and email it in to the Help Desk (see details below) so that we can add it to your website.
- Then, when the Help Desk respond to say that is complete, come back to this screen and click Verify.
Pass on the following to The Help desk
When the above has been set up, pass on the following to the Help Desk so that we can configure your platform with Google Analytics:
- Confirm that you have added Magico as a user to your account..
- Pass on the Google Webmaster Tools meta tag.
- We will then (1) set up analytics for your website + (2) install the Google Webmaster Tools meta tag.
Enabling Google Tag Manager
You may in the future require enabling Google Tag Manager. To do this, just send your GTM code into the help desk and they will turn it on for you. This will then start logging into your Google Tag Manager account and will also send through sales to GTM.
