Product Content is the cornerstone to a successful website, Product Content is not just a great selling tool but a rich source of SEO which will help boost your organic rankings. This content exists on your Product Detail page, and elements are also used in external product feeds which are sent to Google, Klaviyo, etc.
There are two elements to your Product Content:
You can choose to develop your own Product Content or Outsource your Product Content. If you would like to explore the possibility of Outsourcing your Product Content please talk to your Project Implementation lead about your options.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS
Product descriptions are pieces of information which exist on the product detail page, and provide information to your customer beyond product title and price. Product descriptions are a great selling tool and also a rich source of SEO. When developing product descriptions keep in mind your keywords.
There are a number of desicriptions available in AB Commerce, and a typical set up may include the following:
Short description
This description appears just above the Add to Basket so very important for mobile shoppers. Use the short description to give a quick summary of the product and reiterate the selling point.
Maximum number of characters is 250.
Accordion tab description fields - product specific
There is an option to add up to four description fields, each of which can have a custom title for the site and only appear for a specific product when populated with content. Content in these sections is unique to each product. The first would be considered a necessary as it is the description which provides core product information and is the only one included in product feeds from AB Commerce.

- Specifications
- Dimensions
- What's in the box
- What our staff/customers say
Maximum number of characters for each is 2500.
Your Implementation Lead will discuss your options in more detail with you.
Accordion tab description fields - sitewide
In addition to the product specific descriptions above, these are followed immediately by Sitewide accordion tab descriptions - there are 5 fields available if required. These are added once, appear on all product detail pages, and can be edited from any product detail page on the site. Typically, these would include the following:
- Delivery Information - a brief intro to delivery/collection services and a link to the main information page
- Returns Policy - a brief intro to the returns information with a link to the full policy page
The implemention team will work with you to select and add content for Delivery, Returns and any other sitewide descriptions which may be required.
Accordion tab description fields - downloads
There is a special accordion tab available for downloadable documents for a specific product. This appears after the other product description tabs and sitewide tabs on the product detail page. If a file, e.g. an instruction manual PDF, is uploaded to a product, it will trigger the appearance of this Downloads tab.
Long description fields - product specific
The long description fields appears below the core product content and gallery and is ideal if you need to display long technical or instructional content. Generally speaking, this is not required, and your Implementation team will discuss this option with you.

PRODUCT GALLERY
The product gallery on AB Commerce consists of product imagery and can also include 1 or 2 videos (hosted on YouTube or Vimeo). Good quality imagery is essential for aiding customers in their purchasing decisions, and ideally each item will have at least two images. Images from suppliers or which you have professionally photographed are the best options.
Once you have your imagery assets available, you will need to prepare them appropriately for upload first. Then you have two option to upload this imagery to the website; you might want to bulk upload imagery for products you wish to initially put online or moving forward you might choose to use the on-page image uploader to upload product images product-by-product when adding the product descriptions.
For adding videos, you will add the relevant URL when Editing Product Content.
