For certain products, you may want the customer to accept certain terms before adding the product to the basket. For example, that the purchaser is over 18 years old.
Record date terms accepted for audit trail
This feature will automatically keep an audit trail for you which includes the date and time that the customer accepted this term to be recorded as part of an audit trail. We will also include the exact text that was displayed as well as the product code and title in the audit trail logs.
Configure for a PRIMARY CATEGORY
When you configure this for a category, it will display the terms for all products that have this category as their PRIMARY category.
How to configure a category of products to show one or more terms to be checked by the user
To set up a category for one or more terms to be checked by the user, take the following steps:
- Log on as web admin
- Look up the category you want to configure and click UPDATE beside the category
- Under the first tab, you will see a Configuration textbox, enter the following values into this box:
- To set up one or more terms to be checked:
- Terms_Count=Number of terms to display to the user (e.g. 1 or 2)
- Term_1=Text to be displayed to the user
- Term_2=Text to be displayed to the user if there is to be a 2nd term displayed
- Term_3, and so on...
- To set up one or more terms to be checked:

- OR you can allow the category to inherit it's configuration from it's parent categories
- All configurations are inherited by it's sub-categories by default that have a blank configuration - but If you don't want to allow a configuration to be inheritable, enter the following config setting:
- Terms_NoInheritance=Y
- This setting can be used either in a parent category to prevent it from being used by a sub-category OR for a specific category that you don't want it or it's sub-categories to inherit from a parent category further up the hierarchy.
- All configurations are inherited by it's sub-categories by default that have a blank configuration - but If you don't want to allow a configuration to be inheritable, enter the following config setting:
- OR you can configure a category to copy it's configuration from another category by entering the following value into the box:
- Terms_CopyConfiguration=The code number of the category to copy from
- OR you can allow the category to inherit it's configuration from it's parent categories
- Wait until the cache clears or clear it manually and then test it works correctly
Option to have more than one term displayed
If a product has more than 1 term text applied to it, more than 1 checkbox term will be displayed to the customer.
For example:
Terms_Count=2
Term_1=I confirm that I am over 18 years old
Term_2=I confirm that I am aware that the medicine should be used in accordance with the recommendations for use contained in the product packaging
Option to EXCLUDE specific products
You can set specific products to be excluded from the category level settings using the parameter Terms_ExcludeCodes
For example:
Terms_Count=2
Term_1=I confirm that I am over 18 years old
Term_2=I confirm that I am aware that the medicine should be used in accordance with the recommendations for use contained in the product packaging
Terms_ExcludeCodes=A1234,B2345,C3456
Setting this at product level
You can also set up terms for a specific product by taking the following steps:
- Log on as web admin
- Look up the product/version you want to configure and click UPDATE
- Under the Product Details tab, click Show Advanced Settings and under Confirm Text, enter your term and click Save - and the change will take effect once the cache is cleared next:
