⚠️COMING SOON - NOT YET RELEASED
This tool allows you to bulk edit optional attributes for selected products quickly. This article outlines the how to access the Bulk Edit Attributes screen, core functionality available, how to use it, as well as limitations and caveats.
Values available in the Bulk Edit Attributes screen all related to the product level (or parent product where there are versions) and multiple values can be assigned for each attribute per product.
For example, a product may be included in multiple Product/Promotion Groups, so they are included. Conversely, a product can only have a single Primary Category or Brand Category, so those values are managed via the Bulk Edit Products functionality.

Accessing the Bulk Edit Attributes screen
The Bulk Edit Attributes tool is available via the main Products admin. While logged into an admin account, browse to Catalogue > Products and you will see the option for Bulk Edit Attributes available:
Select the products you wish to manage in bulk via the checkbox column. If suitable, you may wish to resort or filter this view in order to select relevant products. For example, if you wish to assign attributes to products which have been newly added to the site, you can change the Sort Order to Newest, click Go, and then select the products listed at the top of the table to edit.
Clicking Bulk Edit Attributes will open the editing screen, populated with the selected products, in the order set on the previous screen.
Core functionality - default view and customisation
Once in the main Bulk Edit Attributes view, there is an information block at the top of the screen, an action area, and a paginated (if required) product list.
The information block
This is a simple explanation of the Bulk Edit Attributes tool, and provides a link (Return to Products Admin) which will exit this screen and return to the main Products admin. You can leave this screen at any time using this link - changes you have already saved will be maintained, and unsaved changes will be lost.
The action area
Included here are a button to edit column view, and buttons to Discard or Save changes. Not visible initially, but which appear depending on actions taken, are messaging/further action for Apply to All (more on this below) and messages about Unsaved changes.
The columns available are:
- One for each Filter Group - e.g. if you have filters for colour and size, these will be two separate column options. These will show by default if any of the selected products have a value in that filter assigned already.
- One column for Product/Promotion Groups (always visible)
- One column for Additional Categories - this is off by default as the majority of catalogues should not require you to add products to multiple categories, especially in bulk. Please contact helpdesk@magico.com for further information on whether this is available to your specific catalogue.
You can customise this view by clicking on the Columns button and adding/removing columns via checkboxes.
The product list
This is the list of products which you selected from the main Products admin to edit. Any edits made will be flagged in the relevant column. The product code and title are always visible and the other columns will scroll horizontally if needed.
How to edit products
There are two ways to edit products within this tool: edit single products line by line or assign a value to multiple products via checkbox selection.
In both cases, once you have made changes, this will be highlighted on the field and you have the option to Discard - which will clear any unsaved changes in the product list; or Save changes - which will save all changes in the product list. Both actions are immediate.
Single products line by line
Editing values for a single product requires adding/removing a value in one of the columns for that product.
To add a value to a product, click the + in the relevant column.
This will open the options available for that column and allow you to select multiple values. For example, if you click + in the Product/Promotion Group column, you will get a pop up with a list of all the product groups available on site. These you can scroll or use the search field available to narrow down options.
Check the box beside the value(s) you wish to assign your product to, then you will click Apply to make the edit, or Cancel to exit these options.
If you click Apply, these products are now flagged as having changes made, and the changes are ready to be Saved or Discarded.
Multiple products via checkbox selection
If you have a number of products which all need the same value added/edited, you can do this via checkbox selection. Once you have selected the relevant products, e.g. all from the same category - you will see the Apply to X Selected option available beside each of the columns visible.
Clicking one of these will open further options to choose the value(s) to be applied.
Once you make these selections, you will click Apply to make the edit, or Cancel to exit these options.
If you click apply, the edits are then highlighted in the product list as unsaved changes. You then have the option to either Discard or Save changes.
Limitations and caveats
This screen is meant for common updates, particularly to assist with the quick inclusion of new products on your website. We may include additional columns in future releases, but also want to ensure that this tool is quick to use and not overcomplicated. For more detailed editing of an individual product, the main Products admin via the Update link is more appropriate.
Please note: Where products have versions and a Filter Group/Value is linked automatically to a Version Table/Value, the individual filter values will not appear here. However they do not need to be manually assigned as this is happening automatically because of the Version which has been assigned already.
