⚠️COMING SOON - NOT YET RELEASED
This tool allows you to bulk edit versions within an individual parent product quickly. This article outlines the how to access the Bulk Edit Versions screen, core functionality available, how to use it, as well as limitations and caveats.
We recommend using this new Bulk Edit Versions tool going forward. The Edit Versions (Legacy) will still be available for a period of time. Information about that legacy method of managing versions can be found in the Versions section of this support site.
Values available in the Bulk Edit Versions screen are related to the version tables set up on the website.

Accessing the Bulk Edit Versions screen
Once you have added each of the versions as individual products, and then used the Group Products functionality to assign them to a parent product, you are ready to apply the individual version values. The Bulk Edit Versions tool is available via the blue box on the parent product page:
Clicking Bulk Edit Versions will open the editing screen populated with the version products included.
Core functionality - default view and customisation
Once in the main Bulk Edit Versions ciew, there is an information block at the top of the screen, an action area, and a list of versions.
The information block
This contains basic information about the parent product including parent product code, title, image, and active status. There is also simple explanation of the Bulk Edit Versions tool, and provides a link (Return to Products Admin) which will exit this screen and return to the main Products admin. You can leave this screen at any time using this link - changes you have already saved will be maintained, and unsaved changes will be lost.
The action area
Included here are a search field, a button to edit column view, and buttons to Discard or Save changes. Not visible initially, but which appear depending on actions taken, are messaging/further action for Apply to All (more on this below) and messages about Unsaved changes.
The Search will - as you type - filter the versions visible in the list. This is helpful if looking for multiple items with a common word or number.
By default, the columns visible upon entering this tool:
- Version Code
- Version Title
- Status
- Price
- Any version table attributes (e.g. size) already assigned)
You can customise this view by clicking on the Columns button and adding/removing columns via checkboxes. Version code and title are required and present at all times.
The version list
This is the list of versions which have been grouped under the parent product. This may be paginated if there are a large number of versions. Any edits made will be flagged in the relevant field. The version code and title are always visible and the other columns will scroll horizontally if needed.
How to edit versions
There are three ways to edit versions within this tool: edit single products line by line, assign a value to multiple products via checkbox selection, and assign a value to multiple products via the grid (like Excel).
In all three cases, once you have made changes, this will be highlighted on the field and you have the option to Discard - which will clear any unsaved changes in the product list; or Save changes - which will save all changes in the product list. Both actions are immediate.
Single versions line by line
Editing values for a single version requires adding/updating a value in one of the columns for that product.
For example, where the version attribute/table to be assigned is Size, you would select that from the Columns options. Then for each version you can select a size by clicking into the blank text box and selecting from the dropdown. This can be done via scrolling, or search as you type.
Once changes have been made, they will be highlighted in the product list as unsaved changes, and you will have the option via the buttons in the action area to either Discard or Save changes.
Multiple versions via checkbox selection
If you have a number of versions which all need the same value added/edited, you can do this via checkbox selection. This is only relevant where you require multi-level buttons for the product or are editing a value which can be common like Price or Status. Once you have selected the relevant products, e.g. all with the same attribute - you will see the Apply to All option available in the action area.
Clicking this will open further options to select the field you wish to edit and the value to be applied. Once you make these selections, you will click Apply to make the edit, or Cancel to exit these options.
If you click apply, the edits are then highlighted in the product list as unsaved changes. You then have the option to either Discard or Save changes.
Multiple products via grid (like Excel)
If you have a number of versions listed together, then another quick editing option is to drag the blue handle on a cell to apply that value to the fields below it. This is only relevant where you require multi-level buttons for the product or are editing a value which can be common like Price or Status. This is similar to functionality in Excel where you can copy values by dragging the corner of a cell.
Again, once these changes are made, they will be highlighted in the product list and you have the option to either Discard or Save changes.
Single vs multilevel version buttons
Single level buttons
Where there is only one version attribute/table required (e.g. size) then unique values must be in place for each version. Duplicate values will be flagged as errors. For example:
One set up correctly, single level version table/attributes result in one row of buttons on the product detail page:
Multi-level buttons
Where there are multiple version attributes/tables (e.g. Waist and Leg Length) then each value can be assigned more than once, but each COMBINATION of values must be unique.
Once set up correctly, the multilevel buttons will appear as separate rows of buttons as options:
Limitations and caveats
This screen is meant for straightforward version set ups, particularly to assist with the quick inclusion of new products on your website. We may include additional features in future releases, but also want to ensure that this tool is quick to use and not overcomplicated.
Also, this tool is not appropriate for setting up versions which may require customisation/configuration. Please continue to to use the main set up process for those: Using the Product Configurator
Please note: If a field is being populated by an itegration with your EPOS/ERP platform, then the field will appear as a read-only value for information purposes in these screens. For example, if the Size is coming from outside AB Commerce then you will be able to view but not edit in these bulk screens.
