You can turn on a pop-up on your home page (or whatever is the first page that your website users come to) so that you can collect more email addresses.
Typically website admins would turn this on with a message like "Sign up to our newsletter and receive 10% off your next order" which can be very effective in collecting email addresses.
Note that if you are offering a discount, then you need to add a promo code to the automated email sent to new subscribers.
To do this, take the following steps:
- Log on as web admin and click on Catalogue - Special Pages and click Home Page PopUp
- In the resulting screen, you will see the current home page popup - you can click on EDIT CONTENT to edit the content on the page:
- In the left sidebar, you can edit these:
- TITLE: The title of the page
- MAKE ACTIVE: Check this to turn it on (and also you can uncheck it later to come back and turn it off again when you want to stop it)
- Terms & Conditions: Enter the terms here which will appear in small writing at the bottom of the pop-up
- You can also click in the blue box in the main page to make edits to the content displayed.
- Click Preview to preview your changes + if you are happy with them, click Save
- The changes will update when the cache is cleared - if you want them to happen immediately, just clear the cache
- When you click Save, the popup will appear for you immediately once you click on another link on the website if you made it active (once the cache has cleared).
- In the left sidebar, you can edit these:
- If you want a Promo Code to be sent to the user, then follow the steps in this article to add the promo code to the Thank you for subscribing email before you make the above active:
- If you want to edit the Thank you page too, just follow the same steps but click on Thank You Page below the Home Page PopUp page link
When a user sees the pop-up on the home page, they wont see it again for 4 weeks when they use the same browser again.
