If you would like to collect more information about your customers so that you can do more targeted emails to your customers (so that your email topics can be more relevant to them), you can:
- Collect customer's birthdates
- Collect customer's preferences
To turn this on, just contact the Help Desk and they will turn them on for you.
Once turned on, the customer will also be asked to enter their birthdate (optional) and/or their customer preferences (also optional) when subscribing to the website or creating an account.
This extra customer information will also automatically upload to Mail Chimp as part of the nightly integration batch job.
The following example shows the extra fields collect - birthdate, left side customer preferences, and right side customer preferences. Note that you can also change the titles above both sides of customer preferences (just let the Help Desk know the new titles you want instead).
IMPORTANT: We recommend collecting birthdates but we recommend not collecting customer preferences unless you have a very large email list and want to segment your database permanently. This is because once you ask them for their preferences, you will only annoy them when they get emails about other topics. Also, with the Mail Chimp integration, you are already getting all the customer's sales data being synced with their email addresses, so you can already do targeted emails based on previous order history.
